Free Wheelchair Mission is seeking a Senior Medical Programs Manager who not only meets the requirements of the job but has an interest in being part of an organization that is making a significant difference in the lives of individuals in need throughout the world. 

Job Summary

The Senior Medical Programs Manager must be a Physical or Occupational Therapist. This position will provide support to the Programs department and Free Wheelchair Mission’s international distribution partners, with a particular focus on managing and implementing the organization’s FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program, developing new training initiatives, and providing input on the Medical Gift‑In‑Kind program. The FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program focuses on orienting international distribution partners and end users on safe wheelchair fitting and appropriate use, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency in wheelchair provision. Training is delivered through in‑person international sessions as well as virtual formats, including live‑remote and online training. This role works closely with the Programs Directors, Manufacturing, and Finance departments, and approximately 20% of time is spent traveling internationally. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Planning, design, administration, and implementation of FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Programs both in person and on-line. 

  • Organizing and updating FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program procedures, curriculum, and materials based in relevant knowledge of physical or occupational therapy.  

  • With help of translators, training non-English speaking distribution partners on appropriate wheelchair provision. 

  • Managing the translation of FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program materials. 

  • Contribute to reporting on FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program outcomes and efficacy. 

  • Staying up to date on current trends in appropriate wheelchair provision in low-resourced settings. 

  • Providing input and guidance in the development of FWM’s long-term FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program objectives. 

  • Providing oversight of training program volunteers, Independent Contractors, and Trainers. 

  • Providing technical input for international distribution partner wheelchair and Medical Gift-In-Kind program management strategies. 

  • Ensuring the training team provides organized and up-to-date event reports of partner trainings and performance utilizing SharePoint, Excel, Salesforce, and Smartsheet, as related to the FWM Basic Wheelchair Training Program. 

  • Providing input and sharing expertise with the Manufacturing department on impacts of proposed design changes to training curriculum and the safety of wheelchair provision. 

  • Performing other administrative duties as assigned in support of daily job duties by the direct supervisor. 

  • Participating in offsite staff development and fundraising events, occasional evenings and weekends. 

  • Sharing the message of Free Wheelchair Mission and its vision.

Compensation:  

Depending upon qualifications and experience, $95,000-$110,000 annual salary.
